Short summary
International and domestic assessments and research found evidence that our education system not only preserves but even aggravates familial, social and sociocultural differences and the resulting disadvantages. Besides numerous social and education policy factors, these disadvantages cannot be eliminated without a more in-depth understanding of the families and diversifying the ways in which their children are involved in school life.
The need for improving collaboration between the family and the school, parents and teachers is increasingly compelling on the side of both parties.
The first and perhaps the most critical condition for creating a successful relationship is acceptance. Accepting each other’s competencies, in particular, the recognition of parental competencies is the cornerstone of a good relationship.
A principle closely interconnected with acceptance is mutual trust, the establishment of which primarily depends on the teacher. Earning the trust of parents in itself is the consequence of conscious relationship building.

OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE
Our course is intended to explain the role of the relationship between family and school values in students’ education. In order to improve students’ effectiveness, it aims to create a new, “education partners” approach based on the revision of the current state of the relationship between the school, teachers, parents and the parent community, and to facilitate the creation and understand the forms of a modern, partnership-based relationship by explaining the methods and tools that are designed to foster cooperation.
Teachers participating in the course are given an opportunity to understand the tools and methods of self-reflection based self-development and parenting support for the continuous enhancement of partnership and cooperation.
Facilitating efficient cooperation between the two parties, we present such tried and tested methods, techniques, elements and good practices that rely on the parent/school partnership.
We also encourage the re-thinking and modification of own practices through small assignments posted on the forum. By sharing the solutions along with the ideas, questions or concerns raised, we encourage participants to think together.
Please remember that your reflections on others’ thoughts or comments should never imply any value judgment or criticism but should primarily serve, as a tool for joint, collaborative learning, problem solving.
